Bell Work
Bell work is simply that: work that is done right before and right after the bell rings. Directions will be projected on the overhead for students when they enter the classroom. Before students have gained access to the Chromebooks in our classroom, bell work will be completed in their composition notebooks. Bell work might be a quick writing prompt, grammar activity, or short assessment of information they were taught the day.
Once our Chromebooks are up and running, they will be assignment one grammar assignment to do at the beginning of class. They will access Quill.org and there will be a new assignment waiting on them. Likewise, I might assign a quick writing prompt or assessment of information they were taught the day before on Google Classroom as bell work.
Bell work is not only given to engage students as soon as the enter the classroom, it is also a way I can monitor their progress/thinking, as well as, an easy way to increase their overall grade in our class. Bell work will be graded weekly. You should see this reflected in FOCUS.
